How It Works

1.

Unsigned artists - submit your music

Unsigned artists, submit your music to us and we will listen to it - we listen to absolutely everything. We are looking for all genres and from all the submissions received, we will pick out up to 10 of the best each month. Now let’s be clear here; by ‘best’ we don’t mean ‘most relevant’.

We don’t mean ‘most likely to work on radio’.

We don’t mean ‘fits in with what’s selling right now’.

We don’t mean ‘pleased the judges greatly!’ – There are no judges here and no competitions to win.

We simply mean ‘has high standard of musicality’ mu•si•cal•i•ty  (my  z -k l  -t ) n.

We record and mix your live performance

You get picked, you’re great, you know it and we agree with you. So let’s do something about it!  

Live Connection exists to help new talent in the UK to reach the key players of the music and media industry, as well as a much wider public audience. A process that can easily run into thousands of pounds, Live Connection does for free. Nothing. Nada.

We’ll contact you with the date of our next session that’s nearest to you; these are held periodically at O2 Academy venues around the UK.

On the day…

We supply high-end backline that everyone will share. Backline comprises of DW or Pearl Custom drums, Zildjian Z1 cymbals, Ampeg (valve head) for bass, with Fender, Marshall and Orange on guitar duties providing clean and dirty channels. Drummers can bring breakables and keys/laptops/MPC’s etc… can all be plugged in very easily around the stage. It’s just the big stuff that we provide. If you have a branded head for your Kick drum that’s fine too (20” head).

You turn up on the day at the time we give you, plug in, get comfy and we go for it. The venue is not open to the public. You have 30 minutes of actual recording time to get three songs done. Make a mistake? No problem, we can start again!

We record to video using Sony Anycast, with 4 Sony EX3 cameras; one static central shot and two portable camera operators, and another on a 20ft jib/crane. Audio is recorded straight into Pro Tools using our mobile rig with a hard disk recorder running as backup. We then take the audio away and begin mixing it the following day at one of our preferred studios where we keep it sounding live, but mix and master it to be radio ready, before laying it back into the video. Perfect sound, brilliant live video, all in one tidy package!

What you get from us... 

Once we’ve finished all the post-production (about 6 weeks), you will receive the finished video with mixed, mastered audio - the mixed audio on its own, and also the original Pro Tools session of your music should you want to make new mixes later on. It's all yours!

3.

Get your music heard!

Once the recordings are ready, we deliver them to the UK music industry, and get them out to our public audience via our databases and social media.

This is another thing that makes Live Connection unique; we have built our invite-only subscriber list by picking out some of the most influential and pro-active executives in the music/media industry.

We’ve filtered through all of those people that claim to be able to do ‘x,y, and z’ for you and gathered a group of professionals with a proven track record. The invited subscribers on our list are directly responsible in their various roles for countless global record and ticket sales, with several decades of experience. That is why they have been invited – because they make things happen.

When our subscribers log-in to their account they are able to watch all of your videos, stream them, download them and play them via iphone and android devices too. They will read a short piece of editorial about you, along with the direct email and telephone contact details you have provided. From there, it’s in their hands.

4.

Increasing your audience

We will actively promote the music of Live Connection artists via our broadcast partners and through our databases and social network platforms, to millions of entertainment fans. That active promotion lasts for three months from the date it first goes live on our website (though often goes on for much longer!)

From our relationship with online student broadcaster Sub.TV and our regular online newsletters, we will be pointing your music at a relevant audience of people that buy music and buy tickets.

Sub.TV is a music television broadcast network for universities. It currently has 700 screens playing videos in 86+ University bars and Students’ Union venues. Their audience is 1.76 million students, aged 17-24. Live Connection has three x one hour shows per week playing your videos.

5.

Unsigned artists - Digital release commitment

Compliments are nice and all but they don’t pay the bills and that’s what we want you to achieve with your music.

While we’re pushing your music out there, it is absolutely crucial that it is also available to buy, thus maximizing your potential use of Live Connection as a service. We will release some or all of your recordings as a digital download via our global distribution network, covering over 300 online stores.

We only license these tracks from you in order to legally allow us to release them for you on our label, and what’s more, we pay a 60% Royalty without recouping any of our costs against your share. After 12 months that agreement ends and we hand those rights back to you, simple as that.
